June 25, 2025 - The Comal Independent School District is hosting a summer job fair along with an ‘Experience the Ride’ event 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 21, at its Support Services building, 1404 IH 35 North, New Braunfels. All interested applicants are encouraged to attend.
The fast-growth district is hiring for all positions including bus drivers and transportation professionals, child nutrition, classroom assistants, custodians, facilities maintenance, office staff, teachers and substitute teachers with an emphasis on special programs/special education positions.
The ‘Experience the Ride’ event is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has considered applying for a job as a bus driver to find out what it is really like to drive a full-size passenger school bus. With the guidance and supervision of Comal ISD transportation officials, participants will literally take the wheel of a school bus and navigate the parking lot.
Those same officials will be able to answer questions, conduct on-site interviews and assist with the application process as well. Comal ISD currently has openings for 25 drivers and provides paid training to all new hires to ensure that they are prepared for the required CDL testing.
Applicants interested in the behind-the-wheel event must be at least 21 years old and have a valid Texas driver’s license. Participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, preferably tennis shoes.
The district, which covers 589 square miles, includes Comal County as well as portions of Bexar, Guadalupe, Hays and Kendall counties. Serving 10 communities with 36 campuses, the district offers great locations from which to work including 21 elementary schools, eight middle schools and seven high schools in Bulverde, Canyon Lake, Garden Ridge, New Braunfels, the northern tip of San Antonio, Sattler, Smithson Valley, Spring Branch and Startzville. A new elementary school, Mayfair Elementary, will open in August.
